Use the UQ Skills Farm Ready Program to gain skills in preparation for your rural or farm industry placement.

You can undertake this program if you're a UQ veterinary science undergraduate or are studying elsewhere or working in a related industry.

This program provides nationally recognised skills in farm work and workplace health-and-safety best practice as well as hands-on training in vehicle operation and maintenance.

How you'll learn

This program is offered through a combination of online study and practical experience.

  • Online learning: theory and assessment
  • Practical training: one day of training and assessment at UQ Gatton

You must complete the online training before you attend the on-campus training.

Start dates

Practical training sessions are held periodically throughout semesters 1 and 2, including on Saturdays and days during inter-semester recess. 

Sessions run from 8:30am to 4:30pm.

This program is free for eligible UQ Bachelor of Veterinary Science students preparing for an EMS pre-clinical placement.
