The Occupational Health and Safety Leadership short course is for leaders wanting to learn how to oversee an organisation's management of occupational health and safety risks.

This ASQA-accredited short course will teach you the skills and knowledge to lead all stages of the risk management lifecycle.

You'll learn how to:

  • facilitate identifying occupational health and safety risk management requirements
  • lead effective risk assessment strategies and practices 
  • lead practical risk controls suited to the organisational environment and requirements 
  • drive risk management evaluation practices according to your organisation’s WHS management system
  • apply effective stakeholder communication and interpersonal skills to risk management.

How you'll learn

Expect to spend 15 hours studying online and another 15 hours undertaking work-integrated learning to practice implementing skills and gathering assessment evidence.

Assessment

Assessments include online quizzes and a skills portfolio assessment.

You need:

  • a minimum of 2 years working in any industry
  • access to a suitable workplace in either an employed or volunteer capacity
  • to have successfully completed Year 12, or equivalent.

All UQ Skills programs require access to a computer with a Windows operating system, up-to-date versions of Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat Reader, and a reliable internet connection.
