What’s non-concessional and concessional?
Non-concessional is the first level of funding, available to anyone who meets the eligibility criteria. You can view the eligibility criteria for each funding program on our Funding page.
Concessional is a second, additional level of funding, available to people who have a registered disability, a concession card, or are Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander.
I have a concession card but don’t meet the eligibility criteria for the funding program, do I still get the concessional rate?

How do I apply for funding?
You don’t need to apply. We’ll check if you meet funding criteria when processing your application and let you know. We’ll apply your funding to your enrolment.
I’ve already studied the same level or higher qualification as the funding available, am I still eligible for funding?
If you studied and completed the course in high school, you are still eligible but you’ll need to send us a copy of your Queensland Certificate of Education. You are still eligible for funding if you studied but did not complete the qualification. We may ask you to supply a copy of your evidence of cancellation.
I’ve completed a Bachelors degree, can I still get funding?
Unfortunately no, our funding is available for either your first Certificate III, Certificate IV or Diploma since leaving high school. If you’ve completed a Bachelor you are not eligible for funding.
What is Work Integrated Learning (WIL)?
Work Integrated Learning (WIL) is a placement you complete with an employer related to your field of study. This is your opportunity to put your skills into practice in a real workplace.
Do I need to arrange a WIL Host Supervisor before my program starts?
No, you don’t commence WIL immediately, you can source a host later.
Can UQ Skills help me find a Host Supervisor?
You need to source your own local Host Supervisor. Once you've enrolled and been given access to your learner portal, you'll be provided with tools that help you track the number of organisations you contact about completing a WIL placement. If you’ve been unsuccessful after contacting 10 organisations please reach out to our placements team.
Can I complete WIL at my workplace?
You can apply to complete WIL with your employer, they will need to pass our usual WIL application process in order to become your host.
