Translate your existing clinical expertise in blood collection into the anti‑doping environment.
You’ll learn how blood testing works in sport, from protocols and chain‑of‑custody to athlete communication and event logistics, so you can operate confidently at competitions and during out‑of‑competition missions.
Certification is issued on completion and remains valid for 2 years, provided you hold current authority to collect blood in your country of practice.
How you'll learn
You’ll learn through a 12-week program that blends online, self‑paced modules with live virtual small‑group training.
Training is delivered by international ITA IBCO trainers (healthcare professionals and anti‑doping experts).
Assessment
Completion of all online modules and participation in virtual training to meet certification requirements as per WADA ‑aligned standards.

This course is designed for qualified and professionally registered nurses, physicians or phlebotomists (the program does not teach clinical venepuncture skills).
You must also:
- hold current authority/license to collect blood in your country of practice
- be currently employed or contracted to an organisation where you undertake blood collection, and have actively undertaken blood collection within the last 6 months
- be proficient in English (oral and written)
- have no criminal convictions, no medical malpractice record, not be under investigation for any medical misconduct, and have no history of anti-doping rule violations.
All UQ Skills programs require access to a computer with a Windows operating system, up-to-date versions of Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat Reader, and a reliable internet connection.

This course does not include nationally recognised units of competency and does not lead to an AQF qualification.
It provides an industry‑recognised certification issued by the International Testing Agency (ITA) and is respected and recognised across the globe in the sports sector.
The program includes:

- A live small-group virtual session that consolidates learning through scenario-based discussion and guided application to real testing contexts.
