Do you buy goods and services on behalf of the government?

This Queensland Government purchasing (level 2) course addresses intermediate skills for procurement in the Queensland Public Sector.

You'll learn how to:

  • understand and apply the strategic sourcing cycle, procurement planning and value for money principles for low-medium value, low risk activities
  • develop and implement procurement plans aligned with Queensland Government legislation and policy
  • draft specifications, manage sourcing processes, and oversee supplier selection and basic contract management
  • conduct risk assessments, apply total-cost-of-ownership concepts, and operate within delegation limits, escalating issues as needed.

Upon completion, you will be able to apply the concept of procurement to the Queensland Government context and follow standard ordering, receipting and payment processes on behalf of their agency.

How you'll learn

This 2-day workshop is delivered in-person at UQ Brisbane City or via a virtual classroom. After attending the workshop, you will have 8 weeks to complete an online assessment project.

The examples and scenarios used throughout the course relate to low-medium value, low risk procurement activities, although the procurement principles discussed in the modules apply to all procurement activities.

Note: Processes relating to higher value, higher risk procurement activities are covered in Procurement Certification Program Levels 3–4 (Level 1 is the prerequisite to Level 2).

You’ll complete an online project to assess your knowledge.

You must have completed Procurement Certification Program Level 1 (Fundamentals).

All UQ Skills programs require access to a computer with a Windows operating system, up-to-date versions of Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat Reader, and a reliable internet connection.

Third-party arrangement

UQ Skills has a third-party arrangement with AcademyGlobal to deliver this program. In this arrangement, UQ Skills is the Principal RTO.

At all times, the Principal RTO is responsible for the quality of the training and assessment you will receive in compliance with Standards for RTOs 2015, and for the issuance of the Australian Qualifications Framework certification documentation.

These standards set out the requirements that an organisation must meet in order to be an RTO and ensure the integrity and quality of nationally recognised training provided by registered training organisations.

  • Queensland State Government employees: $1,150
  • Full fee: $1,350

Group bookings*

  • Queensland State Government employees: $1,050
  • Full fee: $1,250

*Minimum number of students required for group bookings: 6 students for virtual classes or 12 for face-to-face classes.
