You’ll learn how to:
- recognise, report and respond effectively to cyber threats
- maintain cyber hygiene for system health and online security
- safeguard your digital environment using passwords, multifactor authentication, and regular software updates
- identify and assess insider threats within an organisation
- plan, adapt and apply strategies to enhance security in your workplace.
This training is of particular value to aspiring cyber security professionals, business owners seeking to protect their digital assets, and anyone interested in understanding and combatting cyber threats.
How you’ll learn
This program is delivered over 3 weeks through a combination of online learning and virtual workshops (Tuesday and Friday, 6:30–8pm).
Assessment
You will be assessed through a variety of methods, including written exams and reports, oral assessments and practical demonstrations.

There are no academic entry requirements for this course. However you must demonstrate you have at least 3 years of work experience in a business setting or be an operator of a small business for the past 12 months.
All UQ Skills programs require access to a computer with a Windows operating system, up-to-date versions of Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat Reader, and a reliable internet connection.
Recognition of Prior Learning
If you have recent work experience you may be eligible to apply for Recognition of Prior Learning.
